INSULATION SETS & PIKOTECH

  • Pikotek VCS
The Pikotek VCS gasket is a high reliability gasket used for both insulating and general sealing purposes in Very Critical Services. The gasket has a proven track record of integrity in aggressive sealing situations. The VCS is suitable in all services up to and including ANSI 2,500 and API 15,000 classes and on all flange types including flat-face, raised-face and RTJ. The VCS gasket consists of a PTFE (Teflon) spring-energized face seal, or an elastomeric o-ring, seated in an insulating laminate, which is permanently bonded to a high-strength metal gasket core. Due to its unique pressure activated sealing mechanism, the gasket requires far less bolt stress to seal than any other gasket. The VCS gasket inner diameter is exactly matched to the flange bore to eliminate turbulent flow and flange face erosion/corrosion. The seal elements are replaceable in the reusable gasket retainer.
    Pikotek PGE

The Pikotek PGE is a non-critical service gasket designed for electrical flange isolation and/or general sealing applications. This gasket is suitable for use in raised-face flanges up to ANSI class 600 (or equivalent) and is excellent for isolating flanges made of dissimilar metals or where prevention of flange face corrosion is desired. The design of the Pikotek PGE gasket incorporates patented overlapping and offsetting seal grooves. The purpose of this design is to break each layer of laminate within the gasket itself thereby creating a barrier through which fluid and/or gas cannot migrate. The sealing element can be any elastomeric material as well as more sophisticated Spring-Energized Teflon lip seals. As a result of this advanced gasket design, maintenance free flange isolation and flange face corrosion mitigation are achieved economically. he PGE retainer is constructed of very rigid Glass-Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) laminates, which exhibit excellent dielectric strength, high compressive strength and superior sealing characteristics.

    Pikotek Firelok

The firelock is comprised of PTFE-based spring-energized jacked radial face seal seated in a high-modulus composite seal retainer which is permanently bounded to a high integrity metal core. The Firelok primary sealing mechanism is the combination of fully-encapsulated, pressure-energized sealing elements compressed into the rigid seal retainer. Firelok gaskets are designed for use in all standard ANSI/ASME and API flange types( raised-face or RTJ) and pressure classes and meet all ASME boiler and pressure vessel (BPV) code requirements as well as API specification 6A dimensional and Appendix F test requirements.

    Insulation Sets - Type D, E and F

Insulation sets are used to limit corrosion in pipeline systems. Where dissimilar metals are present, the sets remove the possibility of the system acting as a galvanic cell and reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion of the pipe work. The set are also used to isolate catholically protected piping systems where they prevent the flow of electro-static charge. Each flange insulation set comprise one central flat or oval section of gasket, one insulation sleeve per bolt and two insulting and two plated steel washers per bolt. The sets are individually packed and clearly labelled with the flange rating, size, type and material combination.

    Type E

Full-face gasket which can be used on flat-face and raised-face flanges. Type E sets can be made from a number of materials to suit the application:

    • Neoprene-faced phenolic resin for low-temperature, low-pressure applications – up to a maximum rating of Class 300.
    • KLINGERSIL® C-4430 for higher pressures and temperatures – up to a maximum rating of Class 600 flanges.
    • KLINGER®top-chem materials can also be used for temperatures up to 260°C and can be used with aggressive chemicals – up to Class 600 for KLINGER®top-chem2000 and Class 300 with KLINGER®top-chem2003.
    Type F

Inside-Bolt-Circle (IBC) gaskets can be used on flat-face and raised-face flanges, and can be manufactured using the same materials as Type E insulation sets.

    Type D

Ring joints are manufactured from phenolic resin and can be used on to a maximum Class 600 and are for use on RTJ flanges.
